Yapme

Delete your Yapme account

Yapme is published by Chidurala Technologies.

You can delete your account at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. This page explains how to request deletion and what happens to your data.

1. Delete in the app

The fastest way to delete your account is directly inside Yapme:

  1. Open Yapme.
  2. Tap the · dot in the top-right corner of the feed to open the menu.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Under the Account section, tap Delete account.
  5. Tap Delete in the confirmation prompt.

Your account is deleted immediately.

2. Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, send a deletion request from your registered email address to:

privacy@yapme.com.au

Include your Yapme username in the message. We will process the request and confirm by reply.

3. What is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our systems:

  • Your account, username, and email address.
  • All posts and replies you have created. (Note: posts are also deleted automatically after 24 hours regardless of account status; replies are deleted when their associated post is deleted.)
  • Your approximate location data.
  • Your push notification token.
  • Your Yapme+ subscription record (the record we hold — see note below on store billing records).
  • All blocks and mutes you have created.
  • Reports you have submitted about other posts.

4. What is retained

A small category of data is retained after deletion:

  • Anonymised moderation records. If other users reported posts you created, those report records are retained for moderation history. After your account and posts are deleted, these records contain no name, email address, or account identifier — only a reason category, an internal identifier for content that no longer exists, and a date.
  • Store billing records. In-app purchase and billing records are held by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) under their own policies, not by Chidurala Technologies. Deleting your Yapme account does not affect records held by the store. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for details.

5. Delete some of your data without deleting your account

You do not need to delete your account to remove individual yaps.

Delete a single yap in the app

You can delete any of your own yaps at any time from two places:

From the feed:

  1. Open Yapme.
  2. Long-press one of your own yaps in the feed.
  3. Tap delete in the action sheet.
  4. Tap Delete in the "Delete this yap?" confirmation prompt.

From My yaps:

  1. Open Yapme.
  2. Tap the · dot in the top-right corner of the feed to open the menu.
  3. Tap My yaps.
  4. Long-press the yap you want to remove.
  5. Tap delete in the action sheet.
  6. Tap Delete in the "Delete this yap?" confirmation prompt.

Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Automatic expiry

Every yap is automatically deleted from our servers after 24 hours, regardless of whether you delete it manually. Replies are deleted when the yap they belong to is deleted. You do not need to take any action for this to happen.

Other data (e.g. specific replies)

If you want to request removal of specific data other than your own yaps — for example, a reply you posted — email us from your registered email address:

privacy@yapme.com.au

Include your Yapme username and a description of what you would like removed. We will process the request and confirm by reply. The same identity process applies as for full account deletion.
